Job Description
Jhpiego is seeking a qualified and experienced Technical Officer – Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNH) to provide technical and programmatic support for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health interventions under the Pivotal (GATHER) Project.
The successful candidate will support the design and implementation of service delivery strategies for Postnatal Care (PNC), with particular emphasis on care for small and sick newborns.
The role will ensure that project interventions are technically sound, evidence-based, and aligned with current national standards and scientific guidance.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Officer – RMNH will be responsible for:

Collaborating with Regional Health Management Teams (RHMTs), Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs), and implementing partners to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies that improve healthcare provider knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Providing technical support for the implementation of Maternal and Newborn Health strategies and interventions across the GATHER Project.

Supporting the regional adaptation and application of GATHER technical approaches.

Representing the GATHER Project in regional, district, health facility, and community-level meetings.

Contributing to project work planning and budgeting processes.
-
Ensuring programme implementation is aligned with Jhpiego standards and national RMNH guidelines.

Promoting integration of RMNH services across all levels of project implementation and reporting.

Coordinating Maternal and Newborn Health-related training activities with regional and district health management teams.

Supporting performance and quality-improvement initiatives at clinical sites.

Building the capacity of regional, district, and health-facility supervisors and service providers through mentorship and assessments aligned with the Programme Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP).

Providing on-site technical assistance, mentorship, coaching, and supportive supervision to healthcare providers.

Supporting service providers to improve the quality and consistency of maternal and newborn health services.

Ensuring proper documentation of project activities, lessons learned, achievements, and success stories.

Supporting effective monitoring and reporting of project implementation activities.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medicine, or a related field.
-
At least five (5) years of experience in reproductive health and RMNH programming.
-
At least five (5) years of proven experience as a classroom and clinical trainer.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines under pressure.

Strong teamwork skills.

Flexibility, reliability, and self-motivation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
