UMATI is seeking a qualified consultant for aGender-Based Violence evidence-generation consultancybased at UMATI HQ in Dar es Salaam. The assignment will inform advocacy for survivor-protection frameworks and policies.

Scope of Work

  • Assess GBV prevalence, patterns, drivers, impacts and survivor-centred prevention and response mechanisms.
  • Conduct desk review of national surveys, government publications, legal and policy documents and project records.
  • Review evidence from Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Geita and Mwanza.
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data and generate actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare a study report, policy brief, PowerPoint presentation, datasets, tools and supporting documentation.
  • Facilitate a validation workshop and incorporate stakeholder feedback.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Legal Practices, Gender, Public Health, Law, Sociology or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years leading GBV research in Tanzania with published work.
  • Experience with survivor-centred and ethical research involving high-risk groups.
  • Strong mixed-methods, data-analysis and policy-brief writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Tanzania GBV laws, the Maputo Protocol and justice-sector actors.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
