Job Description

ONFON Microfinance is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join its team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the organisation’s financial operations, including budgeting, taxation, asset management, accounts receivable and payable, payroll processing, banking, procurement, and financial reporting.

The role requires a detail-oriented finance professional who can work effectively in a busy accounting environment and ensure accurate and timely financial management.

Key Responsibilities

The Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and monitoring organisational budgets.

  • Managing tax-related functions and ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

  • Managing current and fixed assets.

  • Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable.

  • Processing employee payroll accurately and on time.

  • Managing petty cash and banking activities.

  • Supporting and coordinating procurement activities.

  • Preparing financial reports.

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting proper financial controls.

  • Performing any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or another related field.

  • CPA qualification will be an added advantage.

  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a busy accounting environment.

Key Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong accounting and financial management skills.

  • Good knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.

  • Ability to manage accounts receivable and payable.

  • Understanding of taxation and payroll processes.

  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a busy professional environment.
