Job Description

AzamPay Tanzania Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, manage, secure, and optimise the company’s enterprise IT infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, reliability, and security across physical data centres, enterprise networks, server environments, storage systems, virtualisation platforms, containerised environments, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

The role requires strong hands-on technical expertise in enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, Kubernetes, storage, backup and disaster recovery, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Virtualisation and Identity Management

• Administer enterprise virtualisation platforms including VMware and Oracle Virtualisation.

• Manage Microsoft Active Directory services, including AD DS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

• Support LDAP and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.

• Ensure enterprise identity services remain secure, available, and properly maintained.

Kubernetes and Microservices Orchestration

• Design, maintain, and troubleshoot production-grade Kubernetes clusters.

• Manage Control Plane and Worker Node operations.

• Oversee Helm deployments and application releases.

• Monitor cluster and node health.

• Manage ingress configurations and relevant Kubernetes plugins.

• Support reliable and zero-downtime deployment pipelines.

• Work closely with software engineering and DevOps teams supporting containerised applications.

Storage and SAN Management

• Provision and manage enterprise SAN storage environments.

• Monitor storage capacity, utilisation, and performance.

• Perform capacity planning to support current and future infrastructure requirements.

• Manage and optimise multi-path storage allocations.

• Maintain reliable connectivity between enterprise systems and storage platforms.

Backup, Security and Disaster Recovery

• Develop and support disaster recovery strategies and procedures.

• Participate in disaster recovery testing and site failover activities.

• Manage storage replication and infrastructure recovery processes.

• Administer enterprise backup and restoration solutions using Veeam.

• Ensure critical systems and data are properly protected.

• Implement operating system and infrastructure security patches.

• Identify vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation activities.

• Support initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure security and resilience.

Data Centre and Hardware Management

• Support Tier II and Tier III data centre operations.

• Manage physical server racks and infrastructure equipment.

• Perform server hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Monitor data centre environmental conditions, including cooling systems.

• Ensure equipment and physical infrastructure remain operational, secure, and properly maintained.

Infrastructure Automation and Monitoring

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code processes.

• Maintain enterprise monitoring platforms including NetData and Zabbix.

• Monitor system availability, infrastructure performance, and capacity.

• Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues before they affect business operations.

Hybrid Cloud and Infrastructure Operations

• Deploy, configure, and manage AWS cloud resources.

• Support enterprise SaaS platforms, including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

• Coordinate infrastructure projects using JIRA.

• Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps, security, and other technical teams.

• Support implementation of infrastructure improvements and technology projects.

• Ensure infrastructure solutions align with operational, security, and business requirements.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• At least five (5) years of hands-on experience in Senior Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration, Enterprise DevOps, or a closely related technical role.
