Job Description
Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Procurement & Supply Chain to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation’s procurement, warehousing, inventory, and supply chain operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that CCBRT maintains transparent, standardised, ethical, safe, and efficient procurement practices that deliver value for money while supporting the organisation’s healthcare and development programmes.
The role will also focus on strengthening procurement systems, improving operational efficiency, enhancing internal controls, building staff capacity, and ensuring full compliance with organisational and donor requirements.
About CCBRT
Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be a preferred provider of accessible specialised healthcare services in Africa.
CCBRT operates as both a healthcare social enterprise and a development organisation serving communities and vulnerable populations.
The organisation is Tanzania’s largest local provider of disability and rehabilitation services and works to prevent lifelong disabilities wherever possible.
CCBRT is also actively involved in maternal and newborn healthcare, including obstetric fistula repair services.
Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Procurement & Supply Chain will provide strategic leadership and direction to CCBRT’s procurement and supply chain functions.
The position will ensure effective purchasing of goods and services while strengthening procurement systems, warehouse operations, inventory management, internal controls, and supply chain performance.
The post holder will identify opportunities for improvement, particularly those that enable procurement activities to be completed more efficiently without compromising transparency, accountability, or procedural rigour.
Key Responsibilities
The Head of Procurement & Supply Chain will be responsible for:

Reviewing existing procurement arrangements and recommending improvements where necessary.

Developing, implementing, and monitoring procurement and supply chain policies and procedures.

Establishing and maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Monitoring procurement and supply chain performance and implementing corrective actions where required.

Introducing new policies, procedures, and operational practices to improve efficiency and accountability.

Training staff and strengthening organisational capacity in procurement and supply chain management.
-
Introducing and maintaining industry best practices and professional standards.
-
Driving value for money across procurement and supply chain activities.

Improving operational efficiency and effectiveness across procurement, warehouse, and inventory functions.

Supporting the effective planning and execution of major procurement activities.

Ensuring optimal stock availability and effective inventory control.
-
Strengthening warehouse management and operational processes.
-
Overseeing the safe, efficient, and accountable storage and distribution of goods.

Developing and monitoring strong internal controls across procurement and supply chain operations.

Strengthening procurement, warehousing, and supply chain performance.

Ensuring compliance with CCBRT policies, donor requirements, and relevant professional standards.

Promoting transparency, integrity, accountability, and ethical procurement practices.

Identifying opportunities to streamline procurement processes without compromising quality or control.

Supporting effective contract and risk management.

Working with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure efficient procurement and supply chain operations.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement.

Current registration with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).
-
Authorisation as a Supplies Officer or Stock Verifier.
-
At least eight (8) years of professional experience in the procurement sector.
-
Significant experience in a procurement leadership position.
-
Experience within the healthcare or NGO sector will be considered an added advantage.
