Job Description

CRDB Bank Plc is seeking a qualified professional to support the development and administration of its insurance business within the Retail Banking Department.

The successful candidate will support prudent underwriting, timely policy administration, effective insurance premium management, and high-quality client service.

The role will also contribute to achievement of departmental Key Performance Indicators while ensuring full compliance with internal policies, insurance procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Job Purpose

The position is responsible for supporting the development of insurance business by ensuring effective underwriting, timely administration of insurance policies, accurate reconciliation of premium collections, and satisfactory customer service.

The post holder will work closely with branches, insurers, underwriters, and other internal stakeholders to ensure insurance arrangements are properly implemented and administered.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting daily reconciliation of insurance collections and premium accounts.

  • Ensuring all disbursed loans have appropriate insurance arrangements in place.

  • Providing technical support to branches on insurance products and services.

  • Supporting system underwriting and insurance bookings.

  • Following up monthly insurance declaration schedules from Bank units.

  • Analysing quotations received from insurance companies.

  • Reviewing insurance policies and negotiating with underwriters to obtain suitable insurance solutions for clients at competitive prices.

  • Guiding insurance-designated staff on booking insurance business in the system from branch to zonal level.

  • Providing timely underwriting training to relevant teams and branches to improve performance.

  • Supporting the Manager Operations & Compliance in preparing reports and other required management information.

  • Coordinating customer-related insurance matters with the Customer Experience team.

  • Ensuring customer queries are responded to within agreed Service Level Agreements.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.

  • Scheduling and attending meetings with clients where required.

  • Developing a strong understanding of clients’ businesses and insurance requirements.

  • Supporting Head Office clients and providing assistance to zonal teams where required.

  • Participating in development and improvement of digital insurance platforms.

  • Participating in User Acceptance Testing and other insurance-related initiatives.

  • Handling daily underwriting issues and queries raised with insurance companies.

  • Seeking clarification from insurers and underwriters where necessary.

  • Developing and maintaining productive professional relationships with insurance underwriters.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university.

  • At least two (2) years of professional work experience.

  • At least one year of experience in a reputable organisation performing a similar or closely related role within the insurance industry.

  • Insurance qualification with at least a Certificate of Proficiency (COP).
